Oak Shore | Residence

Designed by McClellan | Tellone, Oak Shore brings architecture, interiors, and landscape together around an extraordinary waterfront setting. The residence pairs expansive glass, black structural steel, warm wood, and pale stone to create a home that feels both substantial and open. Kara approached the project by documenting how these materials frame the water, shape the natural light, and create a continuous relationship between the interiors and Lake Washington. McClellan | Tellone led the architecture, interiors, and landscape, with construction by RW Anderson.

Inside, the home is defined by strong horizontal lines and carefully balanced contrasts. Dark steel beams give the spaces a graphic architectural rhythm, while wood-clad ceilings introduce warmth and soften the home’s modern geometry. Pale stone walls and fireplaces add texture without interrupting the restrained palette, allowing the craftsmanship and changing daylight to carry the visual story.

The main living spaces open directly toward the lake through broad walls of glass. Kara used these sightlines to show the architecture and landscape as a single composition, moving from layered seating and sculptural furnishings to outdoor terraces, water, and distant mountain views. The result feels expansive yet intimate, with each room oriented toward the experience of living beside the shoreline.

Throughout the home, the interiors remain refined without feeling overly formal. Soft upholstery, organic vessels, restrained artwork, and thoughtfully placed greenery bring a lived-in quality to the architecture. In the dining room, sunlight moves across a pale stone wall, while in the living room, firewood, textiles, and natural branches add warmth to the home’s more monumental elements.

The recreation space offers a darker, more atmospheric interpretation of the same material language. A stone bar, black finishes, warm wood ceilings, and views extending toward the water create a setting that feels polished but relaxed. Photographing these shifts in mood allowed Kara to present the home as a complete experience rather than a series of isolated rooms.

The final imagery captures Oak Shore as a residence shaped by its surroundings. By photographing the architecture, interiors, landscape, and waterfront views together, Kara documented the quiet precision of McClellan | Tellone’s design and the way the home opens itself to light, water, and the horizon.
