Jackson Hole Mountain Retreat

Set high above the valley in Jackson Hole, this home by Brianna Michelle Design feels deeply connected to its surroundings. Natural stone, weathered wood, dark steel, and expansive walls of glass create a grounded sense of place, while softer textiles and thoughtful furnishings bring warmth and ease to the interiors. Kara approached the project by letting the landscape lead, capturing how the architecture frames the mountains and how the changing light moves through each room.

Inside, the home balances rustic materials with a restrained, refined sensibility. Exposed beams and wood-paneled walls give the spaces depth and history, while tailored upholstery, patterned textiles, and sculptural lighting keep the rooms from feeling overly traditional. Kara focused on these contrasts, photographing the strength of the architecture alongside the quieter details that make the home feel personal and lived in.

The kitchen and dining area open directly toward the view, creating an intimate gathering space within the home’s larger scale. Soft linen drapery filters the mountain light, while warm wood cabinetry, aged metal, and an inviting mix of seating add texture without competing with the landscape. Small moments—a table set for a meal, branches gathered in a ceramic vessel, a blanket draped across a chair—help tell the story of how the home is experienced.

Outside, the covered terraces extend the living spaces into the landscape, offering uninterrupted views across the valley and surrounding peaks. Photographing the home at dusk allowed Kara to capture the warmth of the interiors against the cooler tones of the mountains, emphasizing the relationship between shelter and setting. The finished imagery feels atmospheric and expansive, documenting not only the design itself, but the quiet experience of being within it.
