Photographing Oddfellows Design Studio felt modern and soulful—clean lines softened by warmth, texture, and lived-in intention.
Oddfellows Design Studio
Oddfellows Studio in Portland is a space that speaks softly and beautifully. A design-driven studio brought to life through intentional architecture and material palette, it balances modern minimalism with organic warmth. Photographing this project meant finding harmony in every frame — between light and shadow, wood and white, simplicity and texture.
With soft oak flooring, curved architectural moments, and sculptural lighting, the studio feels both open and intimate. Clean lines and neutral tones provide structure, while rich wood elements and thoughtful furnishings create moments of softness and rest. As a commercial interior photographer, I’m always looking for these contrasts — visual rhythms that invite stillness and focus.
Light played an essential role in this shoot. The natural brightness flooding through the arched hallway and skylit kitchen allowed me to document the materiality of the space without needing to exaggerate it. The studio’s seating nooks, dining area, and custom cabinetry each had their own character, and I approached them like quiet portraits — letting form, texture, and light tell the story.
Design-forward spaces like this one are a dream to photograph because they do so much of the work for you. My job becomes about restraint: choosing frames that highlight the designer’s intention while maintaining an editorial clarity and calm. Oddfellows is a space made for creativity, and every corner is crafted to support that spirit — both functionally and aesthetically.
This project is a reminder that a well-designed interior doesn’t need to shout. It just needs to feel right. And capturing that feeling, through thoughtful imagery and a natural sense of flow, is always my goal.
