Photographing Kat Lawton’s Tumble Creek retreat felt quietly expansive, with warm natural materials, soft light, and mountain calm in every frame.
Tumble Creek Mountain Home
Set just east of the Cascades in Tumble Creek, this home was designed as a true four-seasons retreat that feels both relaxed and deeply intentional. The V-shaped layout creates distinct wings for gathering and guests while shaping a sheltered courtyard that offers privacy and a sense of arrival. Inside, the design leans into warm, natural materials and layered textures that feel refined but never fussy, giving the architecture room to breathe while still feeling deeply livable.
Photographing this project was about capturing that balance between structure and softness. Kara focused on the quiet moments that make a home feel complete, the way light settles on wood grain, how stone and metal add contrast, and the ease of rooms designed for conversation, rest, and everyday rituals. The result is imagery that feels grounded and timeless, with an editorial calm that lets the landscape remain part of the story.
